Loving Your Body, Without Conditions
Many times we put limitations and conditions on the way we love our bodies. I’ve heard people say, “I would like my body more if I could just lose 10 or 15 pounds.” Or, “If I could just tone my arms, lose this belly, have a bigger butt, or get rid of these stretch marks, I would love my body more.” The truth is, there is no perfect time to love your body. There’s nothing wrong with wanting to make healthy changes but your love for your body should not be conditional. It should not be based on the number on the scale, the number on the tag in your jeans, if you have cellulite, wrinkles, stretch marks, or how society defines what is beautiful.
The love for your body should come from within. When the love for your body comes from within, it will remain consistent through anytime or any situation. Meaning, the love you have for your body will be there when you have a baby, after you have a baby, as you age, the wrinkles set in, your breasts fall, and your hair goes gray. More importantly, that kind of unconditional love will keep you free from the prison of society’s delusion of beauty. Trends come and go and fashion and styles change. But one thing I know for sure, is that unconditionally loving your body, as is, will never go out of style. Love your body.
