When I Became A Mother, I Became A Better Woman
“A mother is she who can take the place of all others, but whose place no one else can take.” I am so happy to be a mother! I don’t know who or what kind of person I would be if my daughters, Dylan Faith and Skylar Hope were not in my life. When they were born, they gave me a sense of purpose and love that I had never truly known before. Don’t get me wrong, I have days where I want to pull my hair out in frustration and being overwhelmed but I could not imagine life without them in it.
I’ve written this before but when I became a mother, I became a better woman. I wanted to be the kind of mother I never had. I wanted, am, and try to be nurturing, loving, kind, and patient with daughters. I want our home to be a place of peace and be a refuge and a place of solace for my girls. By being a good mother, I was who I needed when I was younger and in turn, I was able to heal old wounds. I allow my children to bring out the best in me. Don’t get me wrong, the days are long and I’m pretty tired but I am beyond happy because I have two little angels by my side. Allow motherhood to be a gift for you and not a chore. Allow your children to bring out the best in you. And more importantly, be who you needed when you were younger and give yourself the love you deserve.
